It's remarkable how much goes on in Portland.
We have enjoyed giving our time to such varied causes as the Children's Book Bank,
Depave Portland, the Urban Farm Collective and City Repair. It's empowering to feel like the hours we invest in these causes is really
making a difference. We also work to personally start projects in our neighborhood.
In addition to volunteering time and energy, we also donate a lot of barrels. These barrels have been used as rain storage, compost turners,
donation bins and much more, by such varied organizations as community farms, school gardens and tool libraries. Whenever we make a donation,
we provide people with consultation on how to make and install the barrels (assuming they are using them for rain barrels.) In this way,
people are empowered to be self-sufficient.
